Upcoming Awesomeness

There are some books I wait for on pins and needles. (Never mind the pile by my beside, I want these, like, yesterday)

York by Laura Ruby  Out: May 16

Even since I saw the jacket copy for this midgrade, I've been kinda bouncing on my heels waiting. The fabulous, otherworldly Morningstarr twins build a magnificent alternate New York at the end of the 18th century and then vanished without a trace 57 years later, leaving a mysterious cypher behind that promises treasure to any who solve it. Now, Tess and Theo Biedermann and their friend Jamie Cruz are in a race against time to solve the puzzle and save their homes from destruction.
So glad we only have till Tuesday to wait to get our hands on this one!

River of Teeth by Sarah Gailey  Out: May 23

I've so enjoyed telling people about this book- it's gonna be even better READING it.

So, at the end of the 19th century, America toyed around with the idea of filling the swamps of Louisiana with hippos to be bred for meat. For real. It was debated in Congress and the proposal lost by one vote, so if anyone ever tells you one vote doesn't matter, you can tell them that if it weren't for one vote, we'd be knee deep in ornery hippos right now. River of Teeth takes us on a journey to that alternate America with mercenary hippo wrangler, Winslow Houndstooth and his crew as they round up feral hippos on the bayou.
I honestly can't think of a plot that's ever made me so intrigued about a book EVER.

The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee  Out: June 27

This is the only title in this list that I've actually read before it's release date, but I am SUPER excited for it to finally hit the shelves so I can start sharing it's deliciousness with other people. (Mackenzi Lee also has the distinction of being an indie bookseller, so it's doubly great to be able to rec this!)

Henry (Monty) Montegue, has be a thorn in the side of his wealthy family for as long as anyone can remember. His constant debauchery has brought scandal to the doorstep on more than one occasion. As a last hurrah before taking over the family estate, Monty departs on a grand tour of Europe with his best friend (and hopeless crush) Percy and his sister, Felicity. But before long, the party runs into danger and are forced to flee across the continent, pursued by enemies with an unknown purpose, forcing Monty to face a great many things, including himself and his love for Percy.
This book is FUN. It's just pure FUN. It's exciting, sweet and insightful. I'm excited to put it into people's hands!

This Darkness Mine by Mindy McGinnis   Out: October 10

Mindy's books are always darkly awesome. This woman does not do fluffy. I fell in love with her style in A Madness So Discreet and Female of the Species, so naturally, I'm looking forward to her next shadowy outing.

Sasha Stone's perfectly planned existence is turned upside down by the arrival of Issac Harver who's obviously trouble. She doesn't understand the effect he has on her, but the revelation of her twin (who was absorbed in the womb) and memories that aren't hers, have her scrambling to take back control of her life.

Dark. Creepy. Delicious!

All the Crooked Saints by Maggie Stiefvater  Out: October 10

Anyone who's read Scorpio Races or Raven Boys will be salivating for this new release from Stiefvater.

In 1960's Bicho Raro, Colorado, three members of the Soria family are each waiting for their own miracle. Though they're saints themselves, performing miracles for pilgrims, they want to perform one for themselves; banishing their own inner darkness. But who knows what havoc the inner darkness of saints might wreck?
This is sure to be full of Stiefvater's signature, dreamy prose and insight into the darkness that we all carry with us.
